2008 Official Rules

For The Corn Belt Carving Club Show

 

The public will do all judging on Saturday May 17h.  Prizes and ribbons to be awarded on Sunday May 18th.

 

Categories for General Judging:

 

  1. Relief
  2. Abstract or ornamental:  frames, gunstocks, furniture, signs, musical instruments, plaques, crests, emblems, lettering, jewelry, canes, functional sculpture
  3. Chip carving
  4. Animal heads and animal figure, realistic
  5. Caricature carvings
  6. Birds or fish
  7. Realistic - Human figure
  8. Group carving of two or more realistic humans or animals in a scene
  9. Mythical:  Santa, Trolls, Gargoyles, Dragons
  10. Miscellaneous – Intarsia, wood burning, etc.

 

Ribbon and Cash presentations:

 

1.      Ribbons and Cash prizes will be awarded in the first four places in Best of Show:

a.      $100 1st place

b.      $75 2nd place

c.      $50 3rd place

d.      $25 4th place

2.      First and Second place ribbons will be awarded for each category.  First place in each category will be awarded $30, second place in each category will be awarded $20.

3.      Show results will be announced at the show dinner on Saturday.

4.      Ribbons and prizes will be awarded on Sunday May 18th.

 

Rules:

 

  1. This is an open show.  Anyone exhibiting at the show is eligible to enter.
  2. Only one entry per person per category
  3. Exhibits shall be the work of the exhibitor and must be carved by the exhibitor.  No carving by two or more persons will be judged.
  4. Carving must be no more than 18 months old.
  5. Carving can not have won a ribbon in the Corn Belt Carving Club show previously.
  6. Table fee includes one contest entry – each additional contest entry will be charged $1.00.
  7. No seminar pieces will be judged.
